Canara Bank Apprentice Recruitment 2026 is open for graduates looking to gain one year of practical banking experience through apprenticeship training.
For FY 2026-27, Canara Bank has announced 3,500 Graduate Apprentice training seats across different States and Union Territories. The engagement runs for 12 months and provides a monthly stipend of ₹16,650. This is an apprenticeship opportunity, not a permanent appointment in Canara Bank.
The application process has two important steps. Candidates must first register on the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme portal and complete their profile. After that, they can submit the Canara Bank apprenticeship application through the Bank’s recruitment portal.
Calculate exact age in years, months and days for a selected date.
The online application window runs from 1 October 2026 to 17 October 2026, both days inclusive.
Canara Bank Apprentice Recruitment 2026 – What Makes It Different?
One major point candidates should understand before applying is that there is no written examination mentioned for this engagement.
Canara Bank will prepare a state-wise merit list using the marks or percentage obtained in the candidate’s 12th standard examination or Diploma. After merit-based shortlisting, candidates go through document verification and the applicable local-language test. Final engagement also depends on eligibility verification and medical fitness.
So, candidates with a strong academic record in 12th or Diploma can find this route especially relevant.
Training Period
The apprenticeship training will continue for 12 months.
Selected apprentices will receive on-the-job training at selected Canara Bank branches according to the prescribed course and training requirements.
The apprenticeship does not create a regular employee relationship with Canara Bank. The Bank also clearly states that it has no obligation to provide permanent employment after the apprenticeship ends.
Stipend
Selected apprentices will receive a total monthly stipend of ₹16,650, including the applicable government contribution.
Canara Bank will credit ₹10,500 per month into the apprentice’s account, while the government’s ₹6,150 share will be transferred through DBT as per the applicable guidelines.
No other employee-type allowances or benefits are provided under the apprenticeship engagement.
Who Can Apply?
Candidates need a graduation degree in any discipline from a university recognised by the Government of India or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government.
There is also an important graduation-date condition. Candidates must have completed graduation between 1 January 2023 and 1 September 2026, both dates inclusive.
Age Limit
The basic age requirement is 20 to 28 years as on 1 September 2026.
Candidates must have been born not earlier than 2 September 1998 and not later than 1 September 2006.
Applicable upper-age relaxation is available for eligible categories according to the notification.
Local Language Requirement
Candidates should understand the local language specified for the State they choose.
A candidate who studied the required local language in Class 10 or Class 12 and can produce the relevant marksheet or certificate will not have to take the local-language test.
Other candidates will have to qualify the local-language test during document verification.
One-State Choice
Candidates can select training seats in only one State under this recruitment.
After choosing the State, candidates can indicate their preference for districts within that State. Final allotment depends on the Bank’s administrative requirements and seat availability.
Application Fee
Candidates in the SC, ST and PwBD categories do not have to pay the application fee.
All other eligible candidates have to pay ₹500, including intimation charges.
Selection Process
Canara Bank will prepare the merit list separately for each State.
The merit calculation is based on marks or percentage in 12th standard or Diploma.
If two candidates have the same percentage, the older candidate gets the higher position in the merit list.
Candidates must meet the minimum qualifying percentage requirement and pass document verification, the local-language test where applicable, and the medical-fitness requirement.
Minimum Marks Requirement
Candidates need at least 60% marks in the 12th standard or Diploma examination.
For SC, ST and PwBD candidates, the minimum requirement is 55%.
The Bank states that fractional percentages are ignored. For example, 59.99% is treated as below 60%.
CGPA / OGPA Candidates
Candidates whose qualification is expressed in CGPA or OGPA must convert it into percentage according to their Board or University rules.
They also need to provide the required certificate confirming the conversion method and resulting percentage when asked.
Documents and Preparation Before Applying
Keep your graduation certificate ready.
Keep your 12th or Diploma marksheet available because merit is based on those marks.
Keep your photograph, signature and left-thumb impression scanned in the required format.
Prepare the handwritten declaration in English as specified in the notification.
Candidates should also keep an active personal mobile number and email address for communication during the selection process.
Important Point About Apprenticeship
This engagement gives candidates structured training and a monthly stipend, but it should not be confused with a regular Canara Bank recruitment.
The Bank does not guarantee permanent employment after completion of the apprenticeship.
